Week commencing 7 oct 2019 to 11 oct 2019
Attending the induction week at Kirklees college.
Monday 7 oct 2019.... We are covering induction today and I have completed my starting point information.
I have understood what is expected from this Apprentice course and the type of work required.
I have also been introduced to Skil sure and I am now familiarising myself with it.
The induction training week with Sandeep Bansil has been an interesting week. I have discovered my strengths and weakness.. and what I can do to help better myself in areas. I have also looked at smart targets and thought of how this can be applied towards my apprentice work that I will be doing.
As a team we have looked into radicalisation and key points to look for so that we can help and also protect others.
Citizenship has also been covered this week, looking at what make a person a good citizen! Group conversations were held and we all enjoyed sharing our thoughts and beliefs in a pleasant environment.
We also found out that a citizen project is also compulsory within this apprentice. As a team we have thought of possible ideas and the next step will now be to implement them.....
Health and safety, equality and diversity, mental health awareness and British values were also areas that have been touched upon. I have obtained my Health and safety certificate for mental health awareness and Equality and diversity. I have completed my functional skills assessment for both maths and English this week too. The scores were not fantastic but I'm sure that the more I work on this the better my performance will be... so watch this space......
With regards to benefits we have revisited most of the benefits that can be claimed within the UK. We have looked at the pass ported benefits e.g. Income Support, Esa IR, Jsa IB, PCGC, Universal Credits as well as HB. We have looked into how claimants could qualify, looked at how the benefits are assessed , what proofs are required and what factors could affect a claimants overall entitlement.
Other benefits that were also touched upon ranged from SRP, BA, Maternity allowance, etc...
Housing benefit was also revisited, we re-looked at the start dates of claims, did exercises to determine what the claim date would be, initial contact date and what the start date of claim date would be. Also looked at backdating benefits and what would be taken into consideration when allowing or refusing the backdate.
Finally the last thing that was touched upon was Universal credits.... We looked at how the claim is made from initial point of contact to when payment would go out. This was quite intense as we covered the following... applicable amounts, how this is calculated and what factors are taken into account e,g, family make up. We looked at sanctions and how this would affect claimant if they did not keep to their claimant commitment too.
